The Bobcat Press

Illustrations from Joseph Moxon’s Mechanick Exercises on the Whole Art of Printing, first published in 1683. Hicks used this Dover reprint of the book as a guide for creating a Common Press replica. The design for his Bobcat press was adapted from Moxon’s description of the “Old-fashioned Press.” The Press of the Palace of the Governors, Museum of New Mexico, Santa Fe.
